Location photography

There are many different types of location photography some of them are -

Weddings

These images are by  Bespoke Wedding Photography, weddings can be in doors (churches, reception, houses while bride gets ready ect.) or outdoors.

Sport

Sports photography generally requires a telephoto lens, again this could either be indoors or outdoors.

Street

This is one of the most iconic street photographs by Albert Eisenstaedt in Times Square on V-J Day, marking the end of World War II.

Within the category of street you can have urban.

I am going to look at urban and take some images of graffiti around Liverpool and St Helens. Here are some that I found on google images that I would like to try and take similar images.

I would like to try to something like this as I like the selective colour, I think it makes the graffiti words stand out more so your eyes are drawn to it.

Fashion

Fashion photography can be shot on location to advertise clothes, make up or hair style/product. This can be done by using studio lights on location as seen in the image to the left.

Architectural

Architectural photography focuses on buildings and other constructions (bridges, stadiums, airports etc), interior design photography also comes under architectural photography.  The building in the image is the center of attention, any people in the image are there just to provide a sense of scale.  If using a DSLR camera a tilt shift lens can be useful as when you take a picture of a building you can see perspective on the building, the lens make it look straight (as seen in the image above). However you can do this without the tilt shift lens, by post production. I will be taking images in Liverpool town of the buildings and then using photoshop to straighten them.

Of course there are many other types of location photography (basically anything that doesn't involve a studio). Each type of location may need different equipment, for example lenses, lights. reflectors.
